San Francisco Board of Supervisors Expand the Scene in San Francisco Rebate Program & Reduce Permit Fees

City skyline taken from Twin Peaks including the hairpin turn in Twin Peaks Blvd.The Board of Supervisors voted to make eligible unscripted television episodes and documentary films for the up to $600,000 in rebates under The Scene in San Francisco Rebate Program. Previously, only narrative features and scripted television shows were able to apply. The Board also approved a reduction in permit fees for films with budgets less than $500,000, from $300 per day to $100 per day.

California Academy of SciencesThe California Academy of Sciences is open for filming! Dozens of striking settings offer filmmakers and photographers an exciting range of location options, including a 2.5-acre living roof, aquarium tanks totaling 500,000 gallons, a cafe and restaurant, millions of scientific specimens, gardens, a four-story rainforest, offices and suites and a full-dome planetariumrs. Contact the Film Office for more information!

SF Film Collective - Apply Today!

The program is available to all who are at least 21 years of age, actively engaged in a film, video, web, television or multimedia project and either a resident of SF or working on a project with a significant connection to SF.  Click here for more details and the program's appliction form. 

Scene In San Francisco Rebate Program

Scene in San Francisco LogoSan Francisco continues to offer the Scene in San Francisco Rebate Program to productions that base in San Francisco. The improved program provides a rebate of up to $600,000 of fees paid to the City and payroll taxes to qualified film and television productions. This new program continues to ensure that more good paying union jobs and production dollars are attracted to San Francisco during these challenging times for our economy.  For more information about how to qualify and apply please click here.
