Scene in San Francisco

San Francisco & Movies

San Francisco has a long history both as a visual staple in the movies and a center for filmmaking creativity. The first moving image was captured in Northern California and since then San Francisco has been a magnet for filmmakers such as Alfred Hitchcock, Clint Eastwood, Chris Columbus, Francis Ford Coppola, Phillip Kaufman and George Lucas.

By hosting production, not only are good union jobs provided to San Franciscans but revenue is brought into the City’s economy. Wide spread recognition of San Francisco’s iconic locations fosters tourism and confirms our position as one of the world’s most beautiful cities.
